Karate Club In Worthing

Welcome to the Broadwater Shotokan Karate Club, which is part of the Sussex Karate Association. Our karate club in Worthing provides karate training for all levels from beginners to advanced levels, and also all ages. We are proud to be an all-inclusive karate club.

Sussex Karate Association has been established for over 35 years, and was established by Robert Birchlea, sensei 8 Chief Instructor and he has been involved with karate for most of his life.

Robert, along with his instructors, is still running the association, now from the position of chairman having recently taken on a more administrative role to allow his experienced instructors a more senior role. His grades can be confirmed by accessing NAKMAS (National Association Of Karate & Martial Arts Schools) of whom he is a member.

Sensei & Founder Robert Birchlea

Awarded 8th Dan Black Belt

On November 5th, 2023, Founder Robert Birchlea was promoted to 8th Dan and the rank of Master by: NAKMAS. (National Association Of Karate & Martial Arts Schools)
After decades of dedicated training and teaching, Master Birchlea has reached the level of 8th Dan black belt.
We congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.
